It’s been nearly 20 years since the right to request flexible working was introduced by the UK Government* – since when there have been a multitude of technological advances that have made working flexibly easier for many industries.

Shortly after the Government made the change, and eager to advance my career whilst bringing up a family, I decided to launch FCM. Over the past 14 years, I’ve continued to build a business that is modelled on total flexibility – both for the associates who work with FCM and for our clients. It is something we’re proud to shout about.

Today, many businesses recognise that the workplace environment has changed dramatically and it’s an ongoing challenge to attract and retain the best people. When I talk to HR associates, they tell me that flexibility is one of employees’ top requests, showing that people are looking to be more agile so they can bring up families, care for parents or just simply choose to work flexibly out of choice (and why not?).

Flexibility and operating with a dynamic mind-set are good for business growth, too. The marketplace is competitive and winning companies have to have agile business plans. Companies are adapting their products and services to meet the evolving needs of their customers and to meet new market demands. Consequently, they are breathing new life into their businesses.

Our commitment to flexible working means our clients can access highly skilled PR and communications experts to help them deliver their commercial goals. We cover all communications disciplines, from crisis communications to design, social media to event management, copywriting to internal comms and project management to media relations.

Flexibility extends to remit, budget and duration, too. It means if a business wants access to a dedicated, full-service agency for ongoing support or just temporary help to relieve a workload issue – we will have a solution.
