A Staffordshire farm is launching two new attractions as it gets ready to reopen its doors when restrictions are lifted in April – a new Critter Village event where daytime visitors will be entertained by a bee, butterfly and hedgehog and Fire Pit & Beer Garden Evenings, where friends and families will be able to relax in the evening and enjoy the outdoor play area.
Following Government guidelines, the National Forest Adventure Farm, in Tatenhill, near Burton upon Trent, will welcome visitors back from Monday 12th April providing 40 acres of outdoor play for families.
The New Life and Critter Village event sees the farm welcome new life into the farm this spring with baby chicks, piglets and kid goats joining the animal zone. There will also be the opportunity to meet some of the hundreds of new lambs due to be born in the Lambing Live Tent plus lamb feeding demonstrations. Families can also hop on-board the Critter Village Express tractor ride to woodland on the Farm and make their way to Critter Village. Once there, they will meet an entertaining bee, butterfly and hedgehog and enjoy fun activities.
Meanwhile, the new Fire Pit & Beer Garden Evenings, where visitors can pre-book a seated fire pit area, build on the safe and successful outdoor Moonlight Harvest event held last Halloween. The farm will be transformed in the evenings into the perfect beer garden with outdoor lighting making the most of the farm’s wonderful outdoor space and play area. Friends and families can also relax by one of fifteen private fire pits which include a gazebo, bottle of prosecco and marshmallows for toasting. Visitors can order food and drink from the bar via an app, and it will be delivered to their dedicated table.
All activities include Covid-19 safety measures such as: limited capacity, social distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures, extra hand-sanitising stations, using face masks in indoor spaces such as the reception and toilet facilities and dedicated cleaning teams employed.
This is such a magical time on the farm when everything springs into life with new chicks, lambs and piglets bustling about. We can’t wait to see our visitors enjoying quality time together and our priority has always been to provide acres of outdoor safe play for families. It’s great to be able to use our acres of space to put on events such as Fire Pit and Beer Garden Evenings so friends and families can make the most of their time together outside. We have worked hard to safely reopen the site and are looking forward to welcoming both guests and our new baby arrivals as the farm reopens its doors.
Ivor Robinson, Joint Owner of the National Forest Adventure Farm
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Tom Robinson has been instrumental in supporting the return of the farm attraction industry and making sure that sites open safely with strict measures in place to keep families and staff safe. As the chairman of the National Farm Attraction Network, which supports the diversification of farms across the UK, Tom has worked alongside DeFRA, Visit Britain, the National Farmers Union (NFU) and other government and trade organisations to produce guidelines for the safe opening of visitor attractions last year.
In doing so the farm, which always has strict hygiene practices in place, has gone above and beyond to create a safe visitor experience while keeping the family friendly farm fun they are known for.
As we did last year, we have gone above and beyond to ensure our activities are of our usual high standards, with all the ever-changing covid-19 safety rules being maintained. I am very proud of the teams’ creativity and versatility to ensure our business continues to offer the fun and unique opportunities family have come to enjoy and love at the farm.
