The evening festival is in addition to the farm’s popular day time Spook-tacular event.
All ages can enjoy Halloween this autumn as a Staffordshire farm park offers both family fun daytime activities and a new evening festival event.
Set in 40 acres of countryside, the National Forest Adventure Farm, located near Burton upon Trent, has been leading the way for safe days out during the pandemic by working with Visit Britain, local authorities and other agencies to ensure Covid-19 safety changes and procedures.
Following the success of Dino Summer, which allowed thousands of visitors to enjoy safe, socially distanced, outdoor fun, the family run attraction is now launching an evening festival event and extending its half term family Halloween activities.
From pumpkin picking to broomstick training, all activities at both events include Covid-19 safety measures such as: limited capacity, social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning procedures, extra hand-sanitising stations, and dedicated cleaning teams.
NEW for 2020 is the launch of the Moonlight Harvest.
A socially distanced evening Pick your own pumpkin festival, allowing guests the chance to experience the farm in a whole new light with live music, performers and funfair rides providing a laid-back festival feel in the heart of the National Forest.
The Moonlight Harvest, which will run from 7pm till 9.45pm welcomes visitors to enjoy the fresh open countryside into the night with moonlight strolls to pick pumpkins or to explore the maize maze by torchlight, live music from local bands, fire performers, a host of fairground rides and a courtyard with food and a licensed bar. Extra marquees and seating, spaced to accommodate social distancing, will be provided to keep festival goers comfortable whatever the weather.
Tom Robinson, who runs the National Forest Adventure Farm with his brother Ivor, and whose family have been farming in the area for over 50 years said:
We are really excited about the new Moonlight Harvest event. It is a fantastic addition to our autumn events calendar, and we are fortunate that our 40-acre site allows people to come together safely to share a relaxed evening in the open air.
Our attraction is set in acres of countryside and we wanted to offer an evening with a festival feel with live bands and performers plus a unique opportunity to pick a pumpkin by moonlight and explore our maize maze by torchlight.
We hope it will be the first of many more evening events where people can get out in the fresh country air and spend a unique evening together under the stars.

For younger families, the popular Halloween Spook-tacular event is also set to return. This year the event is running on extended dates to allow guests to take advantage of the spooky activities during half-term, including neighbouring county half-term dates.
Children can pick their own pumpkin from the patch, learn to fly in Broomstick Training, brave the Haunted Mirror Maze, hunt the mummies in the maize maze and find the potion ingredients in the maze in Cauldron Chaos. The usual farm favourites will also be available including the huge outdoor adventure play areas with jumping pillows, go-karts, crazy golf and JCB dig zone, the barrel stampede, farmyard safari tractor ride, animal paddock and animal barn.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Tom Robinson has been instrumental in supporting the return of the farm attraction industry and making sure that sites open safely with strict safety measures to keep families and staff safe.
As the chairman of the National Farm Attraction Network, which supports the diversification of farms across the UK, Tom has worked alongside DeFRA, Visit Britain, the National Farmers Union (NFU) and other government and trade organisations to produce guidelines for the safe opening of visitor attractions in the summer.
In doing so the farm, which always has strict hygiene practices in place, has gone above and beyond to create a safe visitor experience while keeping the family friendly farm fun they are known for.
A number of new measures are currently in operation including having a dedicated team of cleaners working throughout the day, extra hand wash facilities and hand sanitising stations as well as alterations to the current toilet block to create a one-way system. Admission will be limited, and visitors will need to pre-book a dedicated time slot, as the park will undergo a deep clean in the middle of the day between the two sessions and when the park closes for the day.
Note – the indoor space, including a three-storey soft play centre and restaurant will remain closed in October.
Spook-tacular, which has been extended for the first time this year to accommodate neighbouring county half-term dates, runs on the weekend of October 10th and 11th and every day from Saturday October 17th to Sunday November 1st. Moonlight Harvest which will run from 7pm until 9.45pm will be held on 9th & 10th, 16th & 17th, 23rd & 24th & 25th and 29th& 30th & 31st October. All children under 18 must always be accompanied by an adult and supervised. All tickets need to be pre-booked online.
