As Brexit negotiations continue to frustrate and worry many business owners, Chris Plant, Director of Burton and District Chamber is urging businesses across the region not to lose sight of their growth plans.
“With Brexit continuing to dominate the political and media world our members have been vociferous in their calls for concrete action to avoid a messy and disorderly exit. Plus reassurances that preparations continue for all possible outcomes,” Chris said:
“From our Quarterly Economic Surveys in both Staffordshire and Greater Birmingham members have told us that they been holding off on investment in their businesses, waiting for the Brexit-fog to clear. This is understandable in the circumstances, however is stifling growth and we want to encourage businesses to continue on their growth plans.
“While Brexit remains a daunting prospect for many businesses with little clarity or certainty provided from Westminster, it could also provide opportunities for many businesses to grow and expand and we want to encourage people to have a positive outlook.
“What we would advise businesses to do in the short term, whether large or small, is to undertake our Brexit Health checks which are available on our website.”
Chris is also reminding business owners to take advantage of the opportunity to exhibit or attend its annual event, Let’s Do Business on 27th June, which brings together businesses from across the region in a vibrant hub of opportunity and support.
Let’s Do Business attracts delegates from a broad range of business sectors plays host to over 100 exhibitors and organisers expect over 1,000 delegates to attend the business expo.
Chris concluded: “There is no shortage of enterprise in Staffordshire but there can be a shortage of shouting about it, so full marks to everyone who is planning to exhibit or attend Let’s Do Business on 27th June.
“The whole county is home to successful, innovative and enterprising businesses and this event is all about how to grow, expand and encourage business in the county.”
Let’s Do Business is jointly organised by Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. There are a wide range of sponsorship opportunities available to businesses who want to stand out from the crowd at Let’s Do Business this year.
